Providers may accept the Medicare-approved amount as payment, so you won't be billed for more than the Medicare deductible and coinsurance. A WPS Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan will help cover the Medicare deductible and coinsurance. Yes. If your current Medicare Advantage (MA) plan is being discontinued, you can enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan without answering health questions or going through medical underwriting.
If you are losing coverage because your current Medicare Advantage (MA) plan is being discontinued, you have a Special Enrollment Period in which you can enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan through the end of February. Coverage may begin the first of the following month. You will need to return to Original Medicare. Check the letter you received from your current MA plan for more details.
If you enroll in a WPS Medicare Supplement plan during this time, you may qualify for guaranteed issue, meaning you don’t have to complete health questions, go through underwriting, or worry about being denied coverage.
If you miss your Special Enrollment Period, you will need to answer health questions and you could be denied coverage based on your health history.
